Iāve just started listening. I avoided EC podcasts for a while, just because I was already overloaded on podcasts and didnāt need any more. But the world being what it is, I need something that isnāt the news, and this answers the call. My only note is that the different voices can be hard to distinguish. Even when the accents are clearly different, it sometimes feels as if the different people have similar personalities and similar opinions, so the interplay can feel a little mushy. Itās not like it needs to be full ESPN yelling show, but if there are multiple people on a podcast, take advantage of the differences in their personalities.
Iām in favor of banter, fun, and infantile jokes. It could, theoretically, get too much, but it never did in any TdF episode, to my standards. And occasional chaos is not only entertaining but I consider it a ābonding momentā because it tends to get everyone out of their on-air persona.
Big shout out to whoever is naming the podcast episodes. āMĆ»r de on the France floorā is

Couldnāt disagree more - I love the relaxed, end of the day vibe - itās exactly what Iām listening for, and donāt get it anywhere else - if you want simple, straight (boring?) analysis, plenty of places to find it - but the TdF daily is perfect however it comes
Love the TdF dailies exactly as they are - the relaxed end of the day chat and silliness is what Iām here for - plenty of other places for simple analysis - this is one of a kind - donāt change a thing

Similar for me. Iāve not bothered to switch to the āAfter Darkā version of the podcast as it seems like itād be too much. Fine with relaxed but interested in insight and observations I may not catch. Iām only able to watch the long (30 min) summaries weekdays so using the pod to keep up with the narrative threads evolving.
You could bring in McKinsey to advise you to restructure into a serious and a non-serious pod (and then combine them again in a couple of years)
Another vote for the chill banter with The Lanterne Rouge, The Cycling Podcast and a host of others i donāt need another serious replicative podcasts over analyzing the day. This is a fairly unique take in the world of podcasts.
Paraphrasing a recent example: āVan Der Poel defended his use of private jets more than he defended the yellow jersey.ā So good.
One more vote for keeping things fun, rowdy, and sometimes crossing into the silly, especially during the TdF. I very much appreciate it! Keep up the good work!
I donāt listen to podcasts much bc terrible attention span and usually am listening to news and tuning in and out. For stuff like race coverage a 5 min race report read on the website is the high yield facts and generally my preference.
But the news is so terrible that Iāve been turning in to this one and think the banter is great! Itās like the Tour news plus a travelogue of the behind the scenes nonsense that makes it all so much more interesting but is normally hidden away, plus actual LOLing is wonderfully therapeutic.
An all-Tour news all the time no banter would be like visiting a foreign country and only seeing the spots the tour guide took you to, IMO.
I demand the return of fart noise. My three-year-old absolutely lost it ā his personal podcast high.
I too listen to the daily pods because I get a bit of analysis, some banter and vibes of the tour. I find Httrww generally too dry for me.
I enjoyed the pod the other day with Zack Williams and CMB even if it was more banter than normal.
Also is Compass Man making a return?
I demand the podcast isnāt geared around what makes a 3 year old laugh ![]()
Cos farts are funny. This is facts.
Just throwing my vote in favour of the banter and the mix of race analysis and chat. If you just want race probably not the right podcast for you. Thereās heaps of that out there this is very little Vibes.
Keep up the great work Caley, Johnny, Iain and team
Iām another fan of the banter/behind the scenes style, itās the same swerve that Ned Boulting took the ITV pod that became NSF, however I can do without the occasional descent into blokey laddy BANTZ that so often happens in all male podcast chats. I had to turn the Zac Williams episode off before they started comparing dick sizes.
I like the TDP. I get all the race information I need from the live broadcasts of each stage.
The chatter and esoteric bits of information make the TDP a must-listen for me.
My only grouse is the variable audio quality. The guys need to use their microphones better than they sometimes do.
And playing recorded calls from a mobile doesnāt work.
Minor gripes in the big scheme of things. Keep the banter coming.
I like the podcast how it isālots of banter and silliness. I listen to other podcasts for more of a news/analysis feel. But I donāt get to travel to the tour because of my work. Listening to the Tour Daily feels like listening in on very connected/knowledgable friends talking about the whole spectacle of the race (which is more than just the race itself). Listening to them allows me to feel a little like I am there, at the table, chatting about cycling with friends.
Not everything needs to be race analysis. If thatās what youāre looking for, Iād suggest you just keep it moving. Thereās plenty of other podcasts out there doing straight analysis.
