Tour Daily Podcast

Just remembered my fave bit of the pod - where CMB likened UAE to Movistar but with a generational talent. I feel like a lot of the dynamic in that team clicked for me with that one sentence.

I don’t mind some banter and the vibes of the caravan and funny stories from the past, but it would be good if we at least indicated who came first and second on the stage, the GC, the jerseys etc. Then banter…

I listen to tour daily 100% for the travelogue/descent into madness of it all. I don’t need to hear the racing analysis I already read on the site rehashed.

Can we have more Johnny as Grisha please? I did a spit take when he pulled out the motorbike voice.

The banter is why I love you guys so much! Cant wait for Redford to join the gang.

The entire internet is full of racing analysis. Banter ftw!

Even as someone who chooses podcasts mostly becuase I vibe with the personalities of the hosts rather than the subject matter, there is definitley a tipping point where host banter can become too inwardly focused, creating a feeling of alienation.

This happens most often when it’s a bunch of blokes laughing loudly at their own inside jokes.

Spin Cycle / Tour Daily isn’t there for me yet.

In general I love the banter. This one decended a little deep into chaos for my taste… shrug… win some, lose some. I still listened to the end.

Was on holiday last week and listening to a few back episodes. I particularly loved the discussion on which pro rider you would want to tour/race a tandem with. I almost died when Kit interjected, deadpan, that she thought Puck Pieterse would be a good ride.

IMO podcasts are about the slow burn. You have to be patient and wait for those moments of gold. (That said Johny strikes gold more often than most).

It’s not really the banter that’s the problem, but talking over one another and the cackling that lead to low sounds quality. Lots of folks say that I can get race analysis and Tour podcasts everywhere. I can also get randos laughing at themselves everywhere too. As this is one I’m paying for, I’d prefer slightly more professionalism.

I do appreciate Caley’s warning up front and happily note that this type of podcast has been rare lately.

I love the pods! The 3 of them clearly know their stuff & don’t get too precious about it. A little irreverence never goes astray & the Now That’s a Smell section often has me laughing out loud while walking the dog in the mornings.

Iain T is often pretty good for a laugh too.

I liked it. Felt like true off the cuff thoughts, I enjoyed the unfiltered vibe.

Yesterday’s pod acknowledged that the Stage 6 pod went a little over the top…..and was an excellent pod, as well.

Glad to see Ian back. :+1:t2:

I personally love the banter. As other have said Lanterne Rouge for the detailed rave analysis, Tour Daily for the laughs.

Appreciate all the feedback in every direction, everybody. As this thread makes pretty obvious, people like different things about the pod. We’re always playing with the formula to see what works and what people like.

EC is my go to for Tour daily listening as I am all for the vibes. I am glad Iain is back as he is the star of the Pod for me. There are other pods if you want more analysis. Lantern Rouge is great for detailed tactical chat and the Cycling Podcast is good for rider/staff interviews.

Relaxed is one thing, silly is another. Maybe a few beers after the pod recording?

I mean, it’s three proper British boys getting lashed on a euro tour and then being lairy on a pod.
If the yank hadn’t been there they’d probably have ended up throwing chairs at the foreigners while chanting team sky
