Anyone have a skull cap to recommend or warn against? I need one for sun protection and sweat absorption/wicking. I have a Pearl Izumi which is fine, but not as effective as I’d like with sweat. Wondering if offerings from Giro or Castelli might be better.
Also, thoughts on black vs white? I think black looks better, since it calls less attention to itself, but obviously I don’t want something warmer.
I have used Headsweats Shorty caps for a decade and found them to be outstanding for wicking sweat. They keep sweat out of my eyes on all but the swampiest days - maybe once or twice I’ve had to wring it out at a rest stop. They have worked so well for me that I now own several. Hope this helps!
I use Snek cycling caps. They look good, wick moisture well, and I have one that is probably at least 4 years old and just now starting to look a tad faded.
I bought a GripGrab headband to keep sweat from my eyes which has done a very good job so far. I prefer the headband to a cap as it allows the rest of your head to breathe a bit. It was roughly £10 from Amazon and would recommend
Second vote for Headsweats here. Haven’t tried any other brands, but I got two this spring and they’ve been great. No dripping anymore. Good sun protection. They feel a little warm initially but once the wicking starts, I don’t notice that I’m any warmer than without one.
I can recommend the Specialzed Deflect UV caps. They have a shorter peak than most other cycling caps so don’t interfere with your vision as much as a regular cycling cap.
The only problem is I’m not sure Specialized make them anymore so I find myself having to scour the internet to find old stock.
I got one of these 3 years ago and its been my goto headwear each summer (I’m in the UK so that may not be a great recommendation) and Ive been very happy with it. Mine was white though
I sweat a lot, like buckets. I’ve tried every product you can imagine. So far, the only one that I can recommend is the Halo Cycling Cap. All the others saturated and drop the water through my eyes, at least this one directs the sweat around the face and makes a hot ride bearable.
Pactimo? Does look good. No dice for me, though, as they don’t ship to Australia.
I have an older version of this and still like it, but it’s very definitely no longer white… AU$56 ain’t cheap either! I can imagine it works very well, though, and black does make a lot more sense.
I have been a great fan of the Maxit Coda Cap. It’s light, very good in warm to hot weather (you can wet it down), and I particularly like the fact that it does a great job of protecting the back of my neck. Also, it’s fairly inexpensive and comes in lots of colors.
I’ve been using Halo headbands, they have a silicone sweat dam that diverts the sweat. The also have a Canadian website , so possibly in other countries to save duties.
