Rocker Plates

I’ve been using a home-built one made from plywood, pillow bearings, and a central steel rod that forms the rocker pivot. Works beautifully. I was given a KOM 2-axis rocker that adds the fore/aft motion along with side-to-side rock. That also works very well, though I don’t find the fore-aft all that noticeable except when literally getting on or off the bike and the platform moves around a lot. For that reason, I feel like the Tacx motion slides on the Neo 3 seem unnecessary.

That said, I would never go back to a rigid trainer setup if I could help it. I have thousands of miles on my rocker setups.

Recently purchased an OmniRocker, after being quite firm with myself that I would never buy anything so stupid.

So I bought the tennis ball thing, and now, inevitably, have upgraded.

On a climb, it’s fantastic - you can push against the pedal stroke and overall a much more natural feel. It’s still quite new, only 4 hours or so in, but I’m sure things will only get better as I get used to it.

Yes - the InsideRide e-Flex! I’ve had one since 2020, after upgrading from an early rocker plate. I’m using it with an original Kickr, but it’s now available for the Core and other trainers. The movement is very realistic and increased my comfort dramatically.

100%. I have been using the Inside Ride e-flex plus for 2 years and love it. A bit pricy compared to making something yourself but an ideal way to keep the road feel and dynamic movement.

How does the feeling compare to just the arms out with the rocker feet?

I have an Inside Ride E-flex also, love it. Makes extended rides way more relaxing. I have always hated the locked in feel from rollers and trainers, and real life riding means the bike is moving under you at all times.

Made a platform so my rollers moved, and locked at many DIY rocker boards for the trainer. I just never found one that I truly liked. Since I never rode a rocker can’t say how they feel compared to a E-Flex. The E-Flex is a lower solution compared to a rocker, and depending upon how much you want to balance on the E-flex you can change the amount of effort required to stay upright and work your core.

Going through some of the rolling sections on Zwift can be fun, but at least compared to being on rollers you do not have to tell yourself to not turn.
