Bib recommendations for tall riders

Any suggestions for bibs for taller riders? I’m 6’2” and 187lbs. As a reference point, I have some XL Castelli Unlimited cargo bibs from a couple years ago. These are in ‘regular’ fit as opposed to ‘tailored’ or ‘race’ and I would like some new bibs that are a little more fitted around the waist but much more importantly have longer shoulder straps. The shoulder straps on these bibs feel like they were cut for a rider a couple inches shorter than me. I ride MTB and gravel so some cargo pockets would be nice but not a necessity. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I am of similar height and weight and I also find the straps on recent Castelli XL’s bibs too short, especially the Competizione. Worse, the straps tend to bunch up as soon as I move my arms. The straps on Giordana’s FR-C Pro bibs (size L) are comfortable. Ornot’s cargo bib shorts (size L) also fits me quite well (if you’re an Escape Collective member, you get members discount there too).

If you’re looking for bib shorts, I highly recommend the long leg Endura Pro SL. At 190cm and 76kg, the medium reaches knee length and the straps and pad are comfortable too.

I am 6’1” but have a lot more gravity in me than you. I wear XL bibs though.

I am not a fan of Castelli stuff. I agree that the straps feel too short, but that feeling is reduced when I am in a riding position. They also have a tendency to sit under my belly in an uncomfortable way, but that’s probably because I am a bit fat, but I even felt that way about them when I was less fat.

I like the Pearl Izumi expedition and pro bib shorts. They are available with pockets.

Somewhat less recommended but the performance and comfort of the RedWhite bibs is unrivaled.

It is an Asian-based DTC brand but made in Italy.

I am 6’3 and 190, with more leg than torso. Their XL long is the perfect length and size. For some reason in their cargo version, it’s the XXL to be the exact same size as the XL.

I was given a pair to review and have since purchased two more and they’re all I wear. Not as cool as other brands, but comfort and cost is :ok_hand:

IME it’s not the length of the strap that’s important, it’s the material. I’m 6’2” as well, but 165 lbs, My two favourite bibs are both sized small (Assos and 7mesh) and both of them use wide “seatbelt” type straps. I also have bibs from Sportful and Wyn Republic in the rotation (both sized M) that use more traditional straps, and they are less comfortable.

My next bibs will be another pair of 7mesh - they’re great, and they do make a version with cargo pockets.

Same size and same bibs as above. The 7mesh definitely suit taller riders.

My club’s kit from Kalas comes in an extra long version per size (e.g. a size 2 and 2+). They also do this for their normal Z3/Z4 bibs, perhaps an option.

Similar height and weight here: my other half bought me a couple of pairs of “Neopro” bibs because she was sick of looking at the view ahead of her when I wore my previous (somewhat worn thin) Castellis.

IMO they are a vastly better fit for people our size. https://www.neoprocycling.com.au/

+1 for 7Mesh, I’m 6’1”, and they are very comfortable.

I’m 6’ 5” (195cm) / 195ish lbs (90kg) and have had decent luck with the long/tall sizes from the Black Bibs and from Aerotech Designs. BBs are definitely tighter in the shoulder straps for me, ATD have a good amount more length and stretch in the straps.

I’m about the same size as you (6’1, 185lbs but majority legs and short torse). I’ve really liked the Velocio Luxe bibs I got last season, they are now my go-to for the next time I buy bibs

Adding a vote for the XL/Long Black Bibs. My son (6’5”/200lbs) has struggled to find bibs that fit without being crotch-cutters. Last year I bought my son Black Bibs for Christmas. Those are now just about the only shorts he wears. The other plus is they are very good quality shorts at a super competitive price.

Im 6’3” ~190, long limbs/short torso, I find that Castelli race/tailored stuff fits well in XXL, but I also prefer the chamois that comes with those.

Similar dimensions here. I’ve always been happy with Santini (XXL bib shorts for a bit more comfort, XL a tad too short strap-wise).

6’6” - The Black Bibs long/tall all the way.

I’m 6’2” 75kg - Alé make a range of bibs with compression and are form fitting with wide shoulder straps with a good balance of support and stability.

My favourite is currently the Pro Race Strong Bibs…

Others are available at different price points and compression features, but same strap setup.

+1 for the long leg Endura Pro SL

I’m 6”3 and I’ve used the Endura pro long version, Rapha pro team long and the newly released Maap pro long version. Pricing wise Endura seemed much better value but the logo wears off easily and they faded quickly on the seat area, so I’m a bit unhappy with those. Rapha ones are great, and the new Maap ones seem even better. They both come down to my knee nicely, I won’t get regular sized bibs anymore. I’m ~80kgs, using a medium in both.

Are these long enough for you? I’m also looking into Velocio or pactimo

With my measures (182cm/5’11.65" at 67kg/ 147.7 pounds) I’m looking a bib that suits me well. Slim, but with long enough trousers. Most of them come a bit up short (Pedaled, Q365).
