What XC tyres are people out there running these days? I’m an average joe mountain biker, I like tyres that run fast but want some actual grip, especially on the front. Most of my riding is dry, loose dirt, sand and rocks over a hard base.
The Chisel I’m currently riding has Fast Traks on it but they’re getting a bit old and need replacing. They seemed ok…
Back in the day on my old Epic I ran a 2.4 Ikon up front with 2.2 rear. Before that I had an Ardent Race front, which is probably a little more tyre than I need right now.
For a long time Schwalbe have looked like the fastest XC options out there, but the new Contis look pretty good on BRR. The Pirellis seem ok but it feels like there are too many options between the euro and Asian-made options and all the various random letters (RC, RH, lite, race lite, team…)
