hey there. I am looking to replace the summer tyres on my xc/marathon 29er mtb with something more gripping in the winter mud here in Belgium, but something that still rolls, don’t want to go all downhill from here
right now I have some pretty worn out continentals on, x-king and race king.
I’ve got a pair of Maxxis severe tires that I like a lot.
Though mine are unobtainiun 170tpi version that I bought from Brad Copeland on the old classifieds.
I haven’t read this or the prior reviews yet but it appears XC tires are being reviewed here on Escape collective.
I have seen on the YouTube channel of guykestv as he has done a series of xc tire reviews in the last year. He’s a Brit and definitely seems to be riding on wet a lot. I thought the reviews mirrored my experiences on the ones I had experience with so I trust his opinion
For reference, I use some combination of rekon, rekon race, aspen st, and forekaster depending on conditions, but it’s most often dry here during the riding season. Then we continue xc, but the skiing type!
Forekaster or Barzo? Mezcal clogs up with mud a bit too much in the winter
