I know it is early, there are a lot of races to watch, and not nearly enough time to cover them all.
But, HOLY COW, the Volta ao Algarve was insanely good.
Watching the mountain stages I felt I was transported seven years into the future, watching the most exciting TdF stage EVER: Ayuso, Onley, Seixas, Riccitello, Almeida (he’ll be long in the tooth by then, but hey)… even Sweet Kevin was there.
This is the superstar race we were waiting for. Yeah, I know Remco and Del Toro were sparring in UAE, and Pidcock was barreling descents in la Ruta del Sol. But the Volta had the most exciting mountain stages of this past week, and damn good racing.
