This is more of a ‘thinking out loud’ kinda thing, but I was thinking about this on the way home. Would a bunch of billionaires do a better job of running cycling? This argument reminds me of those who boo-ed Kamala Harris, how boring and uninspiring she was. Sure, maybe. Does that mean that now we’re better off with now? Have we not learnt over the last decade that letting billionaires run things never makes anything better? Again, I’m not saying that the UCI is great, far from it. But I can’t see how a new cycling league owned by billionaires would be any better for rider safety, for example.
