Hi,
I put a SRAM Ceramic BB in my Checkpoint and love the performance and durability. I’m looking to do a similar thing in my Trek Madone Gen 8. I see CeramicSpeed do two different versions, one coated and one non-coated.
Has anyone had experience with these CeramicSpeed T47 BB’s?
Thanks
I have a Ceramic Speed uncoated T47 bottom bracket on my C64, and haven’t had any issues. You do need to maintain them as they don’t use grease, just an oil as lube. But if maintained, they are guaranteed for life.
I have been using a t47 (external) Ceramic Speed Coated bb for over 15k miles including some nasty, muddy and wet riding. It is still very smooth. For my application it was worth it as standard bbs were wearing out pretty quick. I believe the warranty on the coated is even better than the standard. Given my luck with XD-15 I would have gone that way but the spindle sleeve on the enduro bb didn’t clear brake hoses. That being said I have been very pleased with the Ceramic Speed option, and in the coated variety it seems to share durability properties of a XD-15 bearing. I have a King ceramic t47 on another bike and while it is good (and oh so good looking) it is not near as smooth.

Thanks, I ended up going with the CeramicSpeed Coated version.
Would Shimano special grease be good for the BB threads? I want to use a good quality grease.
The package came with two thin spacers, no instruction of if they are required or not, so not sure if I should put one on each side or not.
