SRAM Force AXS E2

While researching the cost of new Force AXS group sets, I just noticed that SRAM are listing Force AXS E2 as a new option beside the E1 version, although I can’t see anything on the E2 page to distinguish it from the E1 product?

Does anyone know what’s new about E2 and when it was released??
@Dave_Rome ?
I don’t remember seeing any mention of it, but I am certainly not watching closely.
It’s hard enough getting my head around all the E1 crankset options, without stumbling upon an entire new version.
It’s a bit early for April fools??

Going from memory as I went through this in fall of 24. IIRC it was released a little under two years ago. I think the front derailer cage was slightly redesigned for better shifting. The crank also was changed to emulated Red and the brifters (are they still called that) now have the moderns Sram design. I’m not sure there are any other difference aside from cosmetic, which in my humble opinion is an improvement.

I think it may just be a typo on SRAM’s part and that it’s actually just E1 (released in 2025). Have reached out to SRAM for confirmation.

Did you see the main page with the 2 versions side by side, with E2 shown as “NEW”?

Oh. I’m guessing it’s going to be something small and silly. For example, SRAM recently updated its single battery charger to USB-C. So for a pre-boxed aftermarket groupset (which you’re looking at), it could just be that.

Will try get confirmation.

Apologies…Upon reviewing again… I’m wrong. Looks like they’ve updated again sometime after fall of 24 when I did my build.

It’s a quick moving cycle! You’re thinking of the D1/D2 generation, where D2 was a small update and exactly as you described.

By contrast, some pretty big updates happened with the E1 update, mainly the new brakes and levers that trickled down from Red.

Maybe E2 gets levers that don’t have excess locktite on the bolts AND don’t slip down the bars?? :crossed_fingers:t3:

They’ve never been called that - it’s just some god-awful name that appeared and won’t die…

Cycling industry employee here, E2 Kits come with the New USB-C single battery charger mentioned by Dave above. That’s the only difference according to my local SRAM rep.

Thanks Nick. What a joke! A confusing joke!

Ah — I was hoping for full mount (UDH) mechs for road range cassettes given all these aero bikes adopting UDH all of the sudden :wink:
