I’ve purchased an AliExpress ZRACE Gravel Crank with the following specs: DUB 29mm spindle. It doesn’t mention anything about the spindle length and to this day I wasn’t aware that the spindle length can become a problem (given I’m not too experienced with building bikes).
Now the spindle is waay too long, no set of spacers can fill the gap of 15-20mm I have, as you can see in the picture.
The crank has a preload and washers, but it is no fit.
The BB is a T47 Outboard bearing for 29mm spindle, which generally fits nice to the frame.
What did I do wrong when shopping for those cranks? How to know the correct spindle length if it is not mentioned nowhere (neither the frame, the BB or the crankset mentions any specifications around that length). How is this industry working actually and how do pro mechanics get things right? My frustration level is just through the roof right now
ah… christ. The BB came with some washers and dust covers for the bearings that I overlooked. With all the max. width washers installed the crank actually works out and the spacing seems alright now. Building bikes is nerve wracking.
Interesting, I’m in almost exactly the same situation with a evosid DUB crankset on external T47 BB on 68mm shells on my gravel bike. I bought the SRAM dub spacer kit and filled the ~11mm of gap on the LHS so it works but is a bit ugly and the LHS cranks is a bit too far offset.
