Overview: We’re in the depths of winter in Melbourne and things get pretty fresh on morning rides. I always have cold hands and feet and have had many years of trialing-and-erroring to find products to help here. For the last few years I was relying on thick merino socks and toe covers to keep my feet warm however I never really liked black toe covers on white shoes.

Enter these Oversocks. While not specifically designed for warmth they do have a windproof/water-resistant forefoot. After talking to some others who already own them I thought I’d give them a go.

Pros: With some decent socks underneath these provide a great balance of keeping the wind out and feet warm, without being to bulky. Given they’re aero oversocks they’re not specifically designed for warmth but they actually provide just the right amount of wind and water spray protection.

They also happen to look pretty pro and they’re machine-washable so it’s easy to keep them nice and white. They’re much whiter than my shoes!

Cons: They’re a bit challenging to put on and I’ve had to allow a tad more time to get ready for rides to put them on! But with a bit of practice it’s not really a big deal. You can’t really get the fit without them being tight so it’s not a big deal.

I suppose they could be considered expensive but they’re not too crazy compared to other shoe cover options.

I like this short style review. Just one crucial point is missing: Did you set some PB using them? That would indirectly also proof that they are very aero :rocket:

Not yet! Only power PBs lately and I don’t think aero optimisation has an impact there.

I have these as well and like them - ideal for UK autumn or spring conditions. Really popular round here with other riders, they’re a local business to us. Will be interested to see how the fare long-term.

What is the normal temp for you on a morning winter ride?

Between 3 and 9 degrees (celcius) most mornings.

laughs in Chicago weather

Thanks, I was mostly just asking to get an idea of the temp range for the overshoes. :+1:t2:

It always interesting how people relate to the weather in their regions….and how fast we can lose our tolerance for cold weather. I see people move south from the upper Midwest and almost immediately start complaining about temps that were once considered mild, or even warm. :man_shrugging:

Perhaps I should have included that info in the review  I’ll update it.

I know what you mean though. I’m from Tasmania and still have cycling kit I haven’t used since moving further north to Melbourne.

I have the black / white ones and really rate them
Better than other offerings on the market
They stay up, after being used often (Northwest Italy) in fall and spring they are still running strong and imho not more difficult to wear on than others ie Velotoze being the worse
