There are a good number of service and maintenance tasks that I believe warrants a high-end, quality tools. A bleed kit and/or quality reusable Luer lock syringes can be one of those worthy acquisitions. The fancy syringe attach straps are nice, but these can be fabricated if you wish.

Bleed cups are a convenient gravity to maintain a brake, but a challenging bleed can dictate a dual syringes application.
When bleeding an unfamiliar bike, usually, I will first do a full top to bottom fluid purge and finalize the bleed following. In fact, the brake fluid purge will be a pretty clean (air-free) initial to start with. Top to bottom can be with an upper only syringe. The logic is that the nasty brake fluid from caliper piston seal deterioration and contamination by-pass debris, I want to exit at the caliper and not be sent upstream to and into the master cylinder reservoir.

it’s a lot easier to use an Ultrasonic Cleaner to degas the fluid…any fluid.
