Seixas Should do the Giro

The debate about whether Paul Seixas should ride the Tour at his age misses the point. The Giro is the smart play.

Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale still gets him into a Grand Tour, but without the full weight of the French media and global spotlight. He avoids going head-to-head with Tadej, and with several of the top favourites sidelined, the race opens up, and he saves the Giro from becoming a snooze fest.

It’s a cleaner introduction to a Grand Tour. Lower pressure, real opportunity, and he would give Vingegaard a solid run for his money.

I would love to see it and his presence would certainly make the Giro more interesting and competitive, but I suspect Decathlon won’t want to pass up the opportunity to have their star man at the Tour, especially if he is on his way out after his contract ends.

Agreed. But I imagine if he and his team (agent/coach etc) have other views it may be a good counter offer. He also has 2027 to do the tour with Decathlon I believe?
