It’s not just the big question of who the last teams to get a WT license will be. Astana and Picnic look okay for the 17th and 18th license and Uno-X and Cofidis have a lot of work to do to challenge this.
However, there are 3 wildcards for all WT events going forward. (This is change, previously there were 2 wildcards to all WT events and 1 wildcard to 1 day races, but there will be 23 teams at all grand tours going forward, 18 WT teams, 2 organizer wildcards, and the top 3 proteams from the previous season.) Currently, assuming Astana and PicNic get WT licenses, the 3 wildcards for 2026 will be Uno-X, Tudor, and Arkea. But Cofidis is VERY close to Arkea and Q36.5 is close. We know that Arkea is likely folding, but that wildcard (more likely w/ Kevin’s GC points) could attract a sponsor.
On the other end, the fight to be the last team eligible for an organizer’s wildcard invite is very close. Polti-Visit Malta and Solution Tech-Vini Fantini are super tight in that race.
