I need a new softshell jackets that I will primarily use on my commutes. I need a new one and I am ok with spending money if I get a quality item. However, most softshell jackets seem to lack a front pocket and the pockets in the rear often do not have zippers. The zippers are important, because I want to use it on commutes where I don a large backpack.
Do you have any suggestions for me?
So far my favorite ever softshell jacket was my Pearl Izumi Pro softshell jacket that somewhat looked like this:
It had
- a front pocket with a zipper for a smartphone,
- a back pcket with a zipper in the back,
- integrated gloves that made a difference when it got cold and
- warm fleece lining.
I loved this thing, and I had to retire it after 12+ years of constant use. I have a Shimano softshell jacket of similar age, which is a cheap copy of the Pearl Izumi Pro, which is also falling apart and the zippers are failing.
