I have many power meters including multiples of Power2Max, SRM (spider-based), 4iiii, Stages, Quark, Cybrei, Garmin (Look and SPD), Favero Assioma (Look and SPD), and SRM X-power (pedal-based). Indeed, I have 4 sets of dual-side SRM (SPD) x-power pedals. Among the pedals, the Garmin and Favero’s perform flawlessly all the time. Never had any issues. However the SRM x-power pedals - even though I think they look the best with their anodized aluminum bodies - are the most unreliable of all my power meters. I have had to send all four pairs back to the factory at various times, some pairs more than once. The biggest problem is they have quite small batteries and despite their newest firmware they seem to drain the fastest of all the power meters just sitting idle. With so many bikes, I may go 3-4 months without riding a particular bike. In that time If I do not charge the SRM pedals every 4 weeks or so the battery will drain too much to take a charge and they have to go back to the factory. It’s ridiculous. On top of that, I have issues with the pedals resetting mid-ride, or losing the connection during some rides. They do work, and the power readings are accurate as far as I can tell, but off all the power meters I own, I have the most problem with these. So public service message here…don’t by SRM x-power pedals…until they address some of these issues.
The SRM spider-based power meter, on the other hand, works great. No issues with those.
