I have a set of PD-9000 Duraace pedals that I am curious about servicing. The spring on the backside looks rusted and I am curious if that is a replaceable part. I would also do the bearing/spindle repair but if I cant do the springs it seems silly to buy the axle parts v. buying new pedals.
If it changes anything, the rust is purely cosmetic..
Do you actually need to replace any of the axle parts, or will a regrease and re-adjustment suffice? Shimano pedal bearings are remarkably tolerant of abuse, so there’s a good chance that a service will get them running smoothly again. If they have been used without servicing for long enough to damage the axle, chances are the pedal body is probably knackered anyway, in which case new pedals would be the way forward.
The springs and rear clippy bit are not available as replacement parts, which is a shame, as theyre often the first parts to wear out and write off an otherwise usable pedal.
As a baseline, how many miles/hours on these pedals?
Any issues or previous service?
