We’re into the best time of year for riding here in northern New England! If anyone’s headed for the Hanover NH - Woodstock VT areas I’d be happy to help with route ideas, especially for gravel.
I just rode this year’s Peacham(VT) Fall Fondo, which is a great example of Small Gravel. Originated by Ian Boswell, he’s very clear that it is not a race(no timing), and the point is to enjoy the beautiful area. The 2022 video shows how ridiculously scenic that area is. If you’re planning for next year there’s a similar small event in nearby Cabot.
Peter, any color on the Grafton Fondo? I’ve been eyeing it as a replacement for an event I’ll be missing this coming weekend when I get dragged to my in-laws, but it’s an awful long drive from NYC…
In two weeks there will be some color. Right now there’s spot color – the “swamp maples” – and you can see the change starting all around. It’s clear in the higher elevations.

I spent a week in Windsor, VT back in August. Given family demands I kept my rides to 2hrs, and ended up doing Mt. Ascutney 4 times. Certainly an effort!
Would have loved to be a little closer to Okemo, or a little further north, but maybe next time.
