New Bike Day - What’re these? - Scott Addict 2026

Hey all, just got my new 2026 Scott Addict 10. Once upon a time (long ago) I was a shop tech at a bike shop, long before disc brakes and electronics were the norm. I have some confidence in my abilities to finish the assembly, but also some trepidation.

What I need a little help with are theses lil doo-dads that came in the small parts bag with some stem and headset bits. I know that I’ve got a FD hanger cover, a headset top bearing cover, a lil stem cover/plug for the (weirdly no longer approved computer mount) and a stem spacer front snap on cable/hose cover.

But What’re the two lil guys with a captive sliding insert? Is it a problem that I don’t know what to do with them?

Thanks!

Hard to tell the size from the pic but they look like the doohickies that go behind the front derailleur to brace it.

Ding, ding, ding! Winner! That is exactly it! Google got me to the super helpful Sram doc, looks like they are the “Wedge”

The wedge provides additional support for braze-on mounted front derailleurs. The use of a wedge is strongly recommended as it will enhance shifting function and performance.

Thanks a bunch! I will now continue the assembly and reassess if the FD proves problematic at all.

Interesting that they are not mentioned in the manual, which looks better than most I’ve seen. Must be a SRAM part and not a Scott part.

Yep there an SRAM part, you get 3, one should be fitted behind your front derailleur mount to brace it. You get the choice of 3 so they can fit many different bikes.

the (weirdly no longer approved computer mount)

I’m looking at an Addict 10, or possibly a Synapse. I just read about the computer mount today - does that mean there’s no out front mount available currently? It’s silly but I really don’t want to go back to the mounts that clamp onto the bar.

How are you liking the bike so far?

Well, sadly thanks to the busy holidays, 2 small children and the wet PNW winter I just finished building it up yesterday. It looks great! But I have yet to test it out on the open roads.

I did however just get some nice intel from Scott about the stem/computer mount issue that has been a big question mark for me. There is a QR code and a pdf on the website about the Syncros ST-R300-AL stem not fitting some of the current computer mounts. Apparently:

“consumers were using a mount from a previous generation stem and it would fit but, at times, cause the handlebars not to clamp correctly”

Evidently there is a new mount (MT-R-211-AL) coming ETA June ‘26.

Looking good even if the lighting was a little harsh.
