New 2026 Cervelo R5 - Stock specs catching up to modern trends

Was just checking out the full spec page for the new R5 and noticed the bars max out at 40cm starting at the 54cm frame and above, and the crank lengths marginally reduced by the next step down from the usual, maxing out at 172.5 on the largest sizes.

A good step forward imo!

I would ride a 54cm and would still want to change to narrower bars and shorter cranks tbh, but I appreciate the trend for sure.

For sure. I’d also love to see the 160 stocked on the 48s. But the overall downsizing is a good sign for the future. This incremental change feels like a “dollar cost averaging” move.

Surprisingly Giant also spec very similar handler and crank lengths on the TCR and Propel and I don’t normally think of them as progressive.

Let’s hope the whole PON network follows their example (and all others too of course)
