I’m chuffed. My laundry photo made it to Spin Cycle, and I got a question read out on the Tour mailbag.
My other cycling fan in person highlights are seeing ourselves on screen during Unchained, loitering in the back of a Daniel Friebe piece to camera (after the miserable sod said he’d come back for a photo with us and never did), getting photos with Matt Stephens and Hannah Walker, and a lovely smile from Richard Carapaz when we wished him luck before the Giro timetrial in 2025.
The absolute highlight though was a tiny moment - we went to the finish of the Turin sprint stage in 2024 in the hope of seeing Cav get 35 but of course he got caught up behind a crash. The next day we’d planned to watch roadside from an uphill bit but when we got close the roads were unexpectedly closed over 10km from where we wanted to go. A very stressful change of plan involved a race across the border (and phone calls to the car hire firm as we were only meant to use it in Italy), a hike up a hill and finally we found a spot on a downhill of Montgenevre. We had flags and I was wearing my home made Sir Cav 35 tshirt and as the great man approached he heard us shouting and gave us a smile. All over in seconds, but possibly the best thing ever!
The day we got home (also our 25th Wedding Anniversary) he got his 35 
Not huge achievements in the grand scheme of things (and we still haven’t caught a bidon after 6 GTs) but one of the reasons why we love this sport so much!
