Melbourne, Au: Recommended heart specialists?

Hi Dave, great to hear that your ablation worked and that you’re still riding.

You mentioned your max heart rate change. I’m impressed yours was still so high going into the AF, and can understand the sense of loss - I’m already grieving a little as I can feel that I probably won’t revisit mine again either.

Thanks for sharing your history. It’s helpful and I appreciate it.

Cheers

Mike

It took some time but I finally realized how lucky I was to be riding period.

Good luck Mike !

I had something similiar happen a few years ago after a case of COVID, and you need to make sure that whatever cardiologist you go to is aware that you are very active, and that just getting your heart rate up to 145ish is not a good test. I went through the gamut of tests to track down why I had severe heart palpitations at a heart rate of 132 right after the COVID case. The first test that showed any issues was a CT scan with contrast, and that was a “slight” blockage. I went in for a angioplasty, to have it stopped after 30 minutes and being told that I was going to be talking to a cardiac surgeon next as I had mutliple blockages. 2 weeks later I had a quad bypass. The only issues I had from the blockages was not being able to get my HR very high and fatigue. No pain, no high blood pressure.

So have as many tests performed as possible, and then figure out the best way forward for your lifestyle.

I still ride, but it is all e-bike outside to keep the stress down on my arteries and analog bike for Zwift.

Good luck and keep us informed.
