Lightweight/summer commuter jacket

With signs of winter finally retreating, I’m looking for a jacket to wear over a t-shirt for commuting/casual/utility cycling. To be used when it’s just a little bit to chilly in just a t-shirt, or because it’s nice to have pockets other than my jeans, or just as an emotional support jacket (I feel illogically exposed cycling around town in just a normal t-shirt).

  • Intended temperature range: 15-20°C (59-68°F)
  • Breathable and well ventilated to work in that temperature range. Don’t want or care about waterproofing.
  • At least one front pocket (will frequently be used with a backpack)
  • Not black, but not “hi-viz”.
  • Fitted to be practical on the bike but not look ridiculous off the bike

On paper the Rapha Commuter Lightweight Jacket comes close, but only comes in black or pink (neither of which appeal) and would be better without the hood, and if they didn’t insist on waterproofing.

Does not have to be a cycling brand, provided the cut works adequately on the bike. I did wonder about something like the Uniqlo “DRY Stretch Sweat Jacket” but it’s hard to gauge how warm/breathable that would be from the pictures and description given.

Not cycle specific, and I don’t know where you’re based, but I have one of these that I haven’t tried on the bike but use for spring when it’s just a tad cool (or in summer if there’s some small chance of light rain whilst nipping about). The red is bright but not in your face, and the yellow is slightly mustardy. It breathes well so as long as you aren’t hooning it about you shouldn’t get too sweaty.
