Light, reliable road/gravel hubs?

What is your favourite hub set to build light and reliable road/gravel wheels? Straight pull or J-bend?
DT 240’s seem a reasonable starting point but I’m open to all suggestions.
They’ll be going on my Factor LS (12x100/142mm through axle. Centerlock disc interface)
Thanks

You can’t go wrong with Bitex 106 hubs. Cheap, reliable, easy to get parts.

Never had an issue with Dt 350s, they are just a bit heavy. The 240s are a great step up without going crazy like the 180s.

The new 350s weigh what the old 240s did as well.

Can’t go wrong with DT 240s, or even 350s (if you can stand the small weight penalty). Stick with stuff that’s well proven and has lots of spare parts support.

I consider DT 350’s the starting and ending point.

I really like the simple design of DT Swiss hubs. The star ratchet is very clever and really easy to clean and repair. No little pawls with springs to deal with. They aren’t bad, I just think the star ratchet is a lot better.

These are my low cost choice for a set and the front is a great option for any build to save some $.

I think the 240 is probably your best bet for light and reliable, though the 180 is even lighter and hasn’t been mentioned yet.

I’ve built more wheels on Bitex hubs than anything else and they’ve been great. At that price, it’s hard to justify boutique hubs unless you just really need the bling.

I mentioned the 180 above. It’s just a lot of money for some weight savings.

They are not the cheapest or the lightest but king r45s will last a lifetime and get better the more you use them.

Thanks crew. Looks like dt gets lots of votes here. I have never come across bitex and will give them a good look as well but for now I am counting my lucky stars as it looks like Factor is going to replace my damaged wheel even though it is out of warranty.

Bitex is a fairly large Taiwanese hub manufacturer that does mostly OEM work. Excellent products, I’ve got a couple wheels built with them as well.

In the US, bikehubstore.com is a good source of Bitex hubs and parts.
