Is my helmet toast?

I noticed a dent on my 2-year-old Abus Gamechanger 2.0. It’s not been crashed, so this must have occurred during storage or transport, but I am not sure.

This is my only road helmet and has seen around 12,000km. I can’t feel any squishiness around the dent.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Dear little lord baby Jesus, yes! In my opinion it is utterly toast.

Given you don’t know the anything about the impact that caused, what looks like a hefty dent, just replace it.

I’ve chucked helmets with less visible damage than that.

You’ve only got one head.

If in doubt, throw it out.

in this case, however, that thing is toast. Bin it.

If in doubt, lead it out. I mean throw it out.

It’s likely Ok, especially if there is no changes in the inner areas of the dent. That said, if it was mine I’d ditch it simply to be on the safe side.

If I had a helmet with a dent like that it would definitely be on my mind when riding. The subsequent loss of enjoyment would be enoough to make me buy a new helmet.

Thanks all! Looks like the time has come. Now what color should my new helmet be? :joy:

Anything but black I reckon. Why do they even make what is after all a PPE item in black?
