@Ray_Maker do you have a good explanation for why all these brands lift the embargo on the exact same day?

Most times embargo alignment occurs going into big tradeshows like Eurobike, but the 2nd week of September continues to be super popular.

The secondary aspect of embargo alignment is that you really only announce things on Tues/Weds/Thurs. Never any other day of the week, because some random country might be on holiday, or press might be coming back from the wekend a day late, etc… So that shrinks your pool down to those three days, with Tues being the most popular, and Thursday the rarest.

That said, any vaguely tech company that announces something on Apple Tuesday is kinda just asking for trouble. Like, this isn’t a surprise. You can predict which Tuesday it’ll be for the next decade if you want to, and so much content in the tech sphere is focused on that. I don’t know why Garmin & Wahoo decided to go with it. It simply limits coverage, both production of coverage and consumption of coverage.

I haven’t gotten to finishing the Edge 550 review yet because I had a gazillion Apple (and Wahoo) things to do that day. Same goes for Garmin Rally pedals. And on and on.

We’ve seen companies like GoPro & DJI get smarter about this, this year in particular. With shifting embargoes away from Apple week. Zwift too, going the week prior (I even chatted with them about it, and they specifically were trying to avoid Apple day/week).
