I.S. disc brake caliper to a flat mount

I’ve got an old set of ISO style mtn disc brake calipers. Is it possible to mount them to a flat mount front fork? From what I can tell, there’s no single adapter, but what if I attach a post-mount to flat-mount adapter and then also attach an adapter to go from I.S. to post mount?

Have you seen this? Only compatible with a 180mm rotor on the front, though.

Isn’t that the wrong way round? I.e. flat mount calliper on IS mount. Isn’t Lawrence asking about IS calliper onto flat mount fork.

Pretty sure only way to do that is indeed with two adapters.

Right, I want to go IS caliper onto a flat mount fork. As far as I can tell I’d need two adapters. I’m guessing I’d need maybe at least a 180mm rotor too?

The rotor size you need likely depends on how things translate in terms of native calliper positioning between your fork, what the native IS mount position on forks was, and your calliper. From what I recall, there were different IS callipers for each rotor size.

There is a lot going on there, and may require you to find multiple mounts for different rotor sizes to see what fits together.

And then, if it does need a 180 rotor, is the fork rated for that?

While admirable to try to re-use the old parts, is it worth the hassle in this case? Do you know the callipers are still OK?

I’ve scrapped the idea at least for now. The IS calipers are still working well. The fork is a Clydesdale cargo fork and judging by the weight it seems strong enough. In the meantime I’ve pulled a TRP Spyer from my parts bin so I’ve now got a mechanical front disc caliper and IS hydraulic rear caliper.

I have a an iso to flat mount adapter from a cheap Chinese company. The qc is low (I bought two and one was unusable), there isn’t an option for lateral adjustment, and it now takes a 180mm rotor. In short it works but not great.
