Hi EC community,
I’ve got a Camelbak Chase hydration pack. I remember reading you’re not supposed to wash it in the laundry.
I also use it to go running and things get… sweaty. So now I find my backpack a bit gross and really want to wash it.
I did just find the Camelbak video on how to handwash it - but I wanted to check the community for any tips on how you’re keeping your backpack sweat- and smell-free.
Thanks!
I put my running vest in the washing machine every now and then. Inside a mesh laundry bag, on a delicate cycle, very low spin speed. No problems so far…
The main risk IMHO would be a strap snagging on the door or something, so using a laundry bag seems pretty essential. Beyond that, you’re just sloshing it about in soapy water. If you can slosh it about in soapy water with your hands, I don’t see why doing it (gently) in a machine is fundamentally worse.

I’ve never thought twice about tossing my USWE pack in the washer set to delicate. I acknowledge that doing so is against the manufacturer’s guidelines and undoubtedly voids the pack’s warranty, so this satisfies my urge to live dangerously.
