How to clamp bike in work stand when exposed seat post is too short

Yes, agreed, that does work for some things… I mentioned it in my original post

This is the way

My Hirobel arrives today!

Also going to try the 3D print solution above!

Thanks all for the suggestions and ideas on this!!!

Our first workstand was just a cheap and nasty one with crappy clamp, so for about 20 years I never used the clamp to hold the bike, but instead I made a simple cradle like the hirobel that stayed in the clamp and being non-adjustable it was even easier to use and a LOT cheaper - the bikes just sit with the top tube on 2 padded hooks. This is all we need unless trying to do major work with high forces involved that need the bike clamped in position.

Gah. how embarrassing. I should pay more attention and read the whole post without skipping lines. :man_facepalming:

Wow, That’s interesting because I’ve always been uncomfortable about clamping a dropper post, and rarely do since I only recently got a good Feedback stand with decent clamp. It’s always worried me that there’s so much bending force on the seatpost when the whole bike is supported that way, but obviously all the experts here think it’s ok, based on the articles I’ve read over the years and I my LBSG assured me it’s perfectly fine..

The shock on my MTB prevents me from using the Hirobel on it (I use it on other bikes). In this situation, I use something like this.
