Currently used Polar H9. I bought the second one after the previous unit died after a little over a year of use. I am having to change the battery very frequently and the sensor has been having a lot of trouble connecting. I previously used Garmin and I am thinking of going back to them. What do you all recommend?
I’ve been using the Wahoo Tickr for many years now without issue. Battery life is excellent, seems accurate, comfortable, affordable, etc.
The first one I bought needed to get warrantied because the strap uses a button mechanism to physically connect to the sensor. But the sweat ended up rusting the button and it broke off of the strap. Now all I do is rinse it with water after use and it’s been trouble free.
Thanks I will check it out
The Tickr has been replaced by the Trackr, which by all accounts is a much better unit. I’ve been using one for nearly a year and it’s been fantastic. Best of all, it’s rechargeable without the need for coin cell batteries.
Thanks I was just looking at it. Rechargeable battery sounds nice. I lots count of how many batteries I had to buy for my Polar H9
I’ve also done well with the Tickr. After a couple years, the strap stopped working, but the pod still functioned, so I got a third-party replacement strap from Amazon and it’s lasted years (and has actually worked better than the original).
The Polar eats batteries if you leave it on the strap. I had this issue and learned to remove it from the strap after each use, now the batteries last ages. I found my H9 much more reliable than the Wahoos.
I happily use cheap eBay straps too.
I’m currently on the Garmin HRM-Pro, which I bought in mid-2021. Aside from some slight rusting on the metal bits, due to the powder coating lifting, it’s been pretty much faultless. Battery life (if memory serves) is somewhere between 6 - 12 months.
I use it around 10 hrs per week, and I’m also on rechargeable CR2032 batteries, if that helps.
I believe it’s now been superceded by the HRM-Pro Plus.
Interesting, I always remove mine. I probably did something else incorrectly
For what it’s worth, I upgraded to the Trackr from a Polar H10. I was tired of changing batteries but the bigger issue was that the H10 would just drop to reading about half my heart rate for periods several minutes long on most rides.
Wahoo recently replaced a tickr for me that had the battery cover issue (several years old) with the new rechargeable version. Somehow connects even easier and is super consistent and charge lasted for many rides so far. Has the older style hook fastened strap.
That’s the Trackr mentioned above
Just note that if you use your monitor for measuring hrv data the wahoo ones aren’t suitable
I just bought the Wahoo TRACKR after my Garming HRM Pro (the yellow one) died earlier this year. I’ve been using my old HRM 200, but both the housing and strap are coming apart.
My issue is that I can’t get the TRACKR to connect to my Forerunner 255. Does anyone know if that is just a weird quirk, or if doing something incredibly stupid here?
Thanks. I use HRV on my watch but haven’t yet on rides.
I’ve used the Polar Verity with great success. I ruined several chest bands with sweat and the Verity has survived for years. The rechargeable battery lasts for long periods.
My monitors from garmin and wahoo died son I end up buying from aliexpress. Magene and Coospo. No issues for 2 years and counting
I haven’t tried Aliexpress yet but maybe I will jump in at some point.
This just dropped today:
I have a working Polar H6 from way back when that I still use the most and a failed H10, but personally I would probably just buy a Coospo (I’m already using one in a different location) at this point.
@yoanna_yo I should have waited one day
