I have a question on how to use this on a Canyon knowing the compression plug screw is an M4 and it looks like most hanger tool adaptors come with an M6. How are people getting around that issue, putting a temp plug in the fork that has an M6 thread?
Have you actually checked the threads? The thread size is different than the size of the wrench needed to remove the fastener. I believe that it’s a 4mm wrench needed, but the threads are still M6 like your derailleur hanger.
Some bikes are just not compatible with that tool. You could get super creative and make an adapter, but it’s never felt like a worthwhile use of time to me. Instead, I just return to traditional methods of lever alignment (typically involving a flat edge and a ruler).
Thanks Dave, thats what I thought.
My next idea then is to try and align from the end of the bar with one of these shifter angle tools somehow with a ruler extension coming out of the bottom…. could be a Hack or a Bodge!
