GRX 11 vs 12 front derailleur pull

Does anyone know if the cable pull for a 12 speed GRX front derailleur is different to an 11 speed? I’m aware the rear cable pull is different. For complicated reasons I’d like to use a GRX 820 chainring and FD with an otherwise 11 speed 105/GRX 810 setup.

They are identical.

You can also use 11 speed rear mechs with 12 speed shifters too, or visa versa, or run GRX with 11 or 12 speed Shimano road shifters, etc.

My road bike has 12 speed 105 shifters with 11 speed ultegra mechs. My wife’s road bike has 11 speed GRX 600 shifters with 12 speed 822 rear mech.

Things only get messy/complicated if you want to start mixing and matching with Tiagra.

Thanks for confirming that, JC1979. It makes sense, but there is so much conflicting information about it out there I was worrying I had missed something.

If you are having strange shifting/indexing issues, it’ll likely be excessive friction in the cables, worn mech pivots, worn cable guides (if the cable runs exposed through a traditional guide under the BB), a worn chain, or with if the issue is the rear, worn out pulley wheels.

I’ve had such issues, front and rear, and finally realised the rear was due to excessive lateral play in the guide pulley, while the former was a very lightly grooved out cable guide increasing friction just enough under the BB.
