Favero Assioma Pro RS and Pro MX pedals

Can anyone confirm if the Assioma Pro spindles will work with other brands of pedal bodies?
I know I can swap the Favero’s own RS and MX pedal bodies, but I already have the original Assiomas and I’ve hacked them to take the Xpedo MTB body so I’m wondering if I can do something similar with the Pro spindles - eg can I use my existing spare “Assioma Look” road pedal bodies, or shimano road pedal bodies I already have if I wanted to convert a pair of MX pedals to road cleats?
I’m assuming this is a no, but I figured I’d check anyway..

I think that’s a big no since now everything is in the axle on the Pro RS and Pro MX.

This will not work.

Jeez guys, no need to be quite so negative!
Thanks for confirming my expectation.
I guess I’ll just use my original Assiomas if I want road power meter pedals - after all, I’ve swapped all my road shoes to Look cleats and I almost never use road shoes, but I never really liked the Look cleat behaviour so I was wondering if I could convert back to shimano pedals without spending lots more on extra pedal bodies.
Serves me right for buying the originals instead of waiting for the good solution. as if anyone knew that that was going to happen.

I can understand your frustration—it’s always tough when the ecosystem shifts after you’ve already invested in gear. At least the original Assiomas are still solid performers, even if the cleat system isn’t your favorite. The compatibility limitations between Look and Shimano pedal bodies have caught a lot of riders off guard, so you’re definitely not alone in wishing there were a straightforward swap option.

If nothing else, you’ve got a reliable power setup for road use, and hopefully future iterations will make cross-compatibility less of a headache. Thanks for sharing your experience—it’s helpful for others weighing the same decision.

LOL. Ask me about ETap gears.
I fully expected my 11 spd ETap gears to get firmware updates when I bought them in 2017.
Nope. Not unless I want to buy an entire new groupset. Sure, mine still work fine like they did when I bought em.
Thanks for appreciating what I was trying to say / why I was investigating pedal options.

So this still leaves me with the Assioma pedal sale email and website nagging me while I try to explain to myself why I need two pairs of power meter pedals.
My whole justification for the first pair was that I can swap them easily.:man_facepalming:

A question unrelated to the power meter woes you are experiencing….

Can you outline the difference you perceive between the Look and Shimano road compatible pedals?

I’d be interested to know what makes you prefer one vs the other

I haven’t used the road pedals for a couple of years but from memory, I found the look cleats were less stable to walk in because they were smaller?
I think I also found them subtly more finicky to clip in?
Sorry I can’t be more specific - I’ve forgotten the details but remember thinking it was frustrating that an apparently trivial change of pedal brands had resulted in another irritation that only became apparent after using them for a while. It might have been the Xpedo details, not Look, per se..

I also prefer SPD-SL cleats/pedals over Look Key-ish cleats/pedals. Clicking in is different, and SPD-SLs are easier to walk in. I feel like SPD-SLs feel more stable, but that might be just the result of my sensory system messing with me. I have found that SPD-SL cleats last longer, at least in my experience.

Rest your weary keyboard fingers, the sale is over.

DOH! I just decided while lying awake last night that I did want some!
Phew! Saved a bundle!! $$$$

And this morning the most recent email in my inbox, just above your email telling me I’d missed the Assioma sale, is SRM spruking their new X-Power Direct pedals. I love how tangled the universe is.
