Electric bike pumps for home/pre ride use

I had been using two different Cycplus inflators (last gen pro and the new Uktra) and a larger Fanttik one. Dave’s article caught my interest. i was looking for an inflator to be used in my house and at my car so size didn’t matter as much.

I ordered the recently released and manufactured by Cycplus Silca Elletrico Ultimate as it was on a Black Friday sale. I couldn’t get it to work for me. The pressure would spike upwards on it shutting it off. I tried it on four different mountain bike wheels. I tried it by turning it on after it was seated on the valve and before it was seated - which their label encouraged. It didn’t make a difference. I used a couple air pressure gauges and it was never close. Silca believes that if not user error perhaps the rubber grommet was too tight and it would expand after more uses solving the problem ). Of note, their return policy is the customer pays for shipping .

I’m disappointed as I expected great things from this pump, especially given Dave’s experience with it. it may just be my sample

I then purchased the Fumpa OG. It worked beautifully on the same four wheels and the gauge accuracy was quite good. Importantly I didn’t have to worry about the settling issue where I’m not sure the pressure shown is what it actually is and you have to wait for it to cool off to start reflating it. In other words the air pressure shown is higher than what is actually present and it take a bit for it to settle. . I try to run lower pressure on my mountain bike tires but with expensive carbon rims and the sharp rocky trails where I live, I need to be certain they are at least a certain pressure.

(To me, accuracy and consistency and not having to deal with settling are the most important attributes followed by speed, number of fills per charge, and then lastly a few more or less db’s of noise); in all cases a built in gauge (accurate or at least consistent) is also essential so I don’t have to check it each time

I also found the Fumpa customer service team very responsive and a pleasure to interact with.

I’ve just ordered their Clik adapter which is now available in the US.

I purchased the Cycplus AS2 Ultra Electric Pump as recommended by Dave, I’m pretty happy with my purchase.

I’ve never used anything other than a 30yr old Silca floor pump, HPX frame pump and a new Silca frame pump.

The Cycplus is great, I’m now sure my old floor pump was way out in measurement. It’s easy to use with the only complaint being the noise but otherwise it works really well.

I have been super happy with the Fanttik X9 Pro for home use.

I had similar experience with the Silca, road tubeless and always using their extension hose, threading into the valve rather than relying on the grommet seal on the pump head.

I usually resolved by opening the stem a bit more or just fiddling/reattaching. I wound up going with a great hack but shouldn’t be necessary given the price of their pump. Since I rarely use a floor pump now, I took the Hiro head off that, put it on the electric, and it’s working flawlessly. I’ve also tried the much less pricey Prestacycle pump head, works even better.

If it’s only for home use maybe think about one of the non-cyling ones, probably from whatever battery ecosystem you’re in for power tools. I’ve got a ryobi inflator mounted on the wall behind my workstand (easily lifts off to do the car etc) with a twin head and clik adapter on it and it’s awesome. You can see it behind the bike in the chaos of this photo.

Battery has lasted 12 months without a recharge, hose is long enough to do both wheels on the stand, much quicker and cheaper than a smaller unit, settling and accuracy are good. The only thing I don’t like compared to my on-bike inflator is that it doesn’t remember the last set pressure.
