On a recent podcast @Dave_Rome suggested checking the drain valve on your compressor regularly to make sure it wasn’t full of water. My compressor manual said to bleed the valve with 1-2 Bar inside. When I opened the valve nothing happened. When I unscrewed the whole bleed mechanism I found the valve itself was blocked. Once cleaned, air flowed freely. So - don’t trust that your compressor is dry - it might be quite the opposite.
