Direct mount chainring newb question

So here’s my sitch: I love 2x and I hate 1x. Specifically, I love 46/30, which I have right now on my GRX 600-level chainset. Problem is I hate the heft and especially the aesthetics of GRX chainsets, so I’ve decided I need to upgrade.

I think these Garbaruk cranks look sick, problem is they don’t make 2x chainrings for these cranks.

But…I noticed that the 1x chainring that Garbaruk includes with these crank arms appears to have the same mounting interface as this Cannondale 2x 46/30 spider ring I found on eBay…

I am not expecting anyone on here to tell me that yes, these two things would play nice together, but maybe someone could tell me that F NO, they will not work, and save me some headaches.

Thanks for any advice you can offer me!

Gabaruk cranks do indeed use the Cannondale direct mount - you can confirm that on their website Garbaruk XC Crankset | Garbaruk online store (look at the compatibility info)

@Dave_Rome said in his review, that although the interface is the same, the difference in thickness prevents you to properly lock it with the lock ring.
Btw I have a 46/30 I bought close to 10 years ago and used for only a couple of days, because I couldn’t set up the FD low enough on my SuperSix. For the cost of shipping I can send it to you for trying, just PM me

Even if the interface is the same, the chainline is not. Garbaruk crank arms mate with a long spindle, somewhere around 130mm, intending to clear outboard English cups or 86.5mm wide bb shells. The Cannondale chainrings are for Cannondale arms that mounted to 109mm road spindles (or 119 and 125mm spindles but ONLY on their AI Offset frames). Mounting the Cannondale chainrings to the Garbaruk crankset would put the rings way way too far outboard.

IF the interface is the same, and IF the thickness issue is such that you can simply add a spacer to take up the slack, then you can use FSA chainring/spider combinations.
