Di2 wonky communications with Head Unit and other stuff

Hi team!

Running Ultegra 8100 Di2 12-speed with a Garmin edge 530 head unit.

Recently I’ve been routinely getting the prompt to program the Di2 buttons on my Garmin despite the fact they have been programmed. It was popping up every few minutes on rides so I eventually disabled the connectivity. The other thing was the head unit was giving the Di2 battery level was critical prompt but when I went to look at the state of charge it was fine.

Additionally, for some random reason today the shifting just stopped for no reason, so I reconnected the Di2 to the head unit to see if it was a battery thing and at first it said the battery was critical but then a few minutes passed and everything worked normally from a shifting perspective. HOWEVER the prompt to “program Di2 buttons” kept popping up.

anyone have any idea what’s going on!?

All the firmware up to date?

Uhhhh no because I don’t have the stupid cable to connect things so it’s a partial update not inclusive of shifters

Are you sure the Di2 battery critical warning wasn’t about the shifter coin batteries?

So, when connected to head unit it suggests the coin batteries are full … I’ll try to Bluetooth through my phone to confirm

Any suggestions @BetterShifting_Terry !?

If you haven’t done so yet, I’d try to remove the Di2 “sensor” from the Garmin and then re-add it.

Doing so may remove your Di2 data fields from the pages, so take a picture of those before you do that… so that you can restore the pages later

I tried that! And the problem persisted….
