Cycling shoes for multi-day riding but with toe clip pedals

Perhaps unusual ask, but looking for guidance | recommendation on shoes for mutli-day bike packing where the pedal is the old school toe clip sitting on normal flat pedals. When trying to do research, simply being thrown into “Adidas” type sneakers that I don’t believe are the right solution. Guidance really welcome.

I have a pair of Chrome commuter shoes I’d probably use, although perhaps not the best for bikepacking on steep/loose surfaces. Five Tens are another option. Otherwise - some light trail shoes?

Seconding the Five Tens. Corporate ownership aside, they have lace retention straps, grippy soles, and I’ve been pleased with the balance between rigidity (no circulation issues) and flexibility (walking does not suck).

Appreciate the guidance, have had an initial look and do seem a good option

Since I’m that weirdo that rides road bikes with flat pedals , I highly recommend Giro Tracker shoes.

Some kind of touring/commuting SPD shoes with a fairly smooth sole that you can use without cleats? E.g. something like the Adidas Velosambas (no idea how good those are for longer rides). At least in ye olden days, that kind of shoes even used to come with the cleat mounting area still covered by a bit of the sole that you had to remove to install the cleat.

nothing strange about that, simplicity in riding is a good thing. thanks for the guidance.
