My around-town commuter is a VVolt Centauri II. I’m quite fond of it, but I’d like a bit more compliance in the rear. Unfortunately, the seatpost diameter is 31.0 mm, and the wire for the rear light comes up through the center of it with a connector that is 10 mm in diameter. I’ve come up dry trying to find a replacement that might be more compliant and would accommodate the wire for the light. Has anyone seen anything like that?
30.9mm is a standard seat post size, so there is no issue there - the problem will be finding one to accommodate the light connector.
Pics of the connector would help. It might be that there’s a post on the market that can be modified.
For a more compliant seatpost, maybe look into a 27.2 mm post that can accommodate the light and use a 30.9 to 27.2 adapter. The 27.2 post will be more compliant than a 30.9 post.
Good suggestion. Cane Creek makes these shims.
Not so long ago I fitted a seatpost mounted light to my wife’s e-bike. To run the sable down through the seatpost and seat tube, I drilled down through the top of the post and clamp, on the basis that the very top, under where he clamp sits, isn’t a stress area and is under compression once the saddle is tightened on. Cable goes up between the saddle rails and down into the post.
