Collective Favourites - Favourite two-bolt / off-road pedals

Hey all! I’m moving the Escape Collective Favourites polls over here. How this is hopefully going to work: I will post links to each form, and you can submit answers that way, but I assume we can also have a conversation about the specific category of products below, too. I admit I’m still figuring out this forum format, so there might be changes to how we do this, but let’s give it a go.

So, as a first go, I’d be keen to get an idea of your favourite two-bolt pedals (whether it’s SPD or something else). The poll/form is open for your answers over here… POLL

I like Shimano XTR, cause they are robust and just work. If it needs to be light I have a pair of eggbeater 4ti. Veryvery light but they need service like once a month. If you like wrenching, they are awesome

I use eggbeater because I believe they have the lowest q-factor I could find

Shoutout here to my beloved Time Cyclo Pedals, the best two-bolt pedal for road. They’ve disappeared from the TIME website, but I’m holding out the hope that they’ll be brought back at some point :folded_hands:

Shimano XT, Trail on the mountain bike, Race on the gravel bike. They’re a sensible trade off between longevity, performance and price.

I’ve gone from crankbrothers Candy 3, which might be a bit of a left field choice but they have been superb for gravel for me. A big enough platform to feel like a road pedal and make pedalling when you miss a clip easy, but also extremely easy to clip in and out of.

My choise is the boring option. Shimano XT without platform. In wichever version that is current when I need a pair.

The XTR is not worth the added cost over XTand lower versions are not significantly cheaper that XT.

I had the dun ecperience of destroying one last season. I dont actually know how it happened. But the pivot pin for the claw broke on one.

I happily forgave them and bought a new pair.

I have a pair of Shimano 959 on my XC MTB and single speed cyclocross bike. I’ve moved them from bike to bike over the years, repack the bearings when I remember to, and they just keep going.
