Buying bar tape--Burgh Alternatives, for the time being

I really like the Burgh White Silk bar tape. Just checked their website. Australia Post is not shipping to the US right now, so DHL service is $24 USD for 2 rolls of tape, and on 8/29 the larger tariffs begin. Ouch. I’ll be looking for something with a similar aesthetic (mostly black, but with a little design to it).

Not sure if it helps significantly but a reminder that Burgh is part of the Member Purchase Program so, as a member, you get 30% off.

Thank you. I had forgotten.

Isn’t it still an $80USD blanket charge when it lands in tariff island? Would need to buy a fair amount of bar tape to cover that

On the Burgh website it reads:

An important update for our US customers

The US have announced a suspension of the de minimis exemption, which previously allowed duty-free entry for all shipments valued under US$800.

From 29 August 2025, all shipments, regardless of value, may be subject to customs duties and tariffs. These are additional to the cost provided at checkout and are the responsibility of the customer.

I used the code. Zeroed out the shipping.

Mostly just replying to say hello to another Wildcat since it seems you’ve got the bar tape ordered. But if you’re looking again, my favorite these days is https://www.cannondale.com/en-us/gear/equipment/grips--bar-tape/bar-tape/knurltack-bar-tape

Thanks. ‘11! You’re making me feel old. My son, ‘15, entered DC just as you were graduating.

Burghs own webshop makes me think of the Monty Python sketch “Cheese shop”, similar situation at R2-bike (one of the best european online retailers).
Are Burgh in between collections, cannot meet demand or worse?

After Dave Rome’s contribution to collective bar tape favourites, I understand why I really liked Zipp CX tape and now Burgh Silicone is a new favourite.

If you’re in Aus, try out the ciclovation stuff. I’ve found it to be quite good (comfortable, nice looking, easy to wrap) and fairly priced. They use a silicon backing, rather than that nasty adhesive.

I guess they prioritise supplying bike shops over their own store?

I went by the date of the increased tariffs on the Burgh website. Whoops. I ordered 2 sets of bar tape.
