Hi folks, I’m after recommendations for bibs that don’t break the bank. I’ve used Assos and Endura bibs in the past and found these more comfortable than Castelli / Sportful / Albion, but a tighter family budget means I’m struggling to replace my Assos for another pair. Any recommendations would be appreciated. UK based if that makes a differnce. Thanks

I don’t know if you can move it now, but for future reference there is a “Cycling Kit” category, where this would probably be better placed.
Do you have a (rough) budget in mind? There are a lot of good options in the £100-£150 range, which could be considered “budget” compared to the likes of Assos and Rapha’s top models, which cost >£300!
If you want to spend less than that, I would be tempted to try Van Rysel’s range - something like https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/men-s-road-cycling-shorts-rcr-r-5-black/367685/c382m8969603 is probably about as good as you can get in terms of bang for your buck (although I haven’t tried them myself).
The other option is to try and get “expensive” brands cheaply. Wait until sales, look for discount codes, buy odd colours etc. Look on Vinted or eBay - plenty of people selling new or nearly new shorts; some shops use eBay to sell returns/ex-display etc (e.g. Sigma Sports Outlet Store | eBay UK Stores). Keep an eye on SportPursuit - they mostly sell obscure AliX-style brands, but sometimes have good deals on well known brands such as Rapha (and looks like there are some PNS bibs on there at the moment).
Lusso are good quality imo in the £100-£150 range. Ethically produced in Manchester too.
Angry Pablo are worth a look too, though pushing the upper end of that budget range.
I like the stuff Galibier put out. Good value and quality from most of their products.

Their cargo bib shorts are my go to for most rides on and off road and suit me for all day efforts.

Neopro cycling are Brisbane based and are extremely popular in Australia due to their reasonable quality at very good prices. They ship internationally and currently have 20% off some of their summer bibs which brings the price under £50. I have a pair of their cargo bibs which are fine. I definitely can feel the difference between them and my Assos bibs, but they’re more comfortable than my last budget bibs from DHB.

Victory Chimp are worth a look. Endura have got a decent sale on their pro bibs at the moment as well.
I’ve just had to retire my ASSOS bibs after 12 years of service! Tried some of the newer versions, and the fit is not the same - legs are higher, and belly is lower - very odd.

I liked Galibier Classique (£55) enough to buy a second pair.
They’re my favourites out of the ones I’ve owned which doesn’t include any premium brands (for context - DhB, santini, morvelo, howies).

2nd vote for these guys. Have a lot of their stuff, plus also supporting UK companies. Good quality (and the one time I’ve taken advantage of the repair service was good) and not madly expensive.

I have found that by being vigilant, I have been able to find Assos bibs at good prices at bikecloset.com and eBay. Sometimes I’ll find a pair that has been branded by a store or team. I have enough for the next couple of years. If I were to look for a new pair at retail right now, I would try NeoPro. I like their jerseys a lot.

HUUB are well worth checking out. Often have good sales too.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Im going to give the Neopro’s a go as they’re really competitively priced and going to grab a top at the same time as like the designs.

Check out The Black Bibs - https://theblackbibs.com/. The basic looks are deceptive. The offer a huge range of sizes and the chamois is equally as good as ASSOS and Castelli in my view.

Second. My cycling wardrobe has been undergoing a gradual metamorphosis to 100% TBB adventure shorts. Great pad, great material, solid grippers, good length, lots of places to stash gels/goodies, nice bib straps. If you crash, replacement does not incur a new home equity loan or organ selling. I forget about them after mile 1.
Only negative is that an OG set of bibs had a weird seam that bothered my backside on back-to-back days.
If they fit you (tried Neopros but they don’t fit me well) it is worthwhile to give TBB a shot. Bibs are like saddles, YMMV. What is good for the goose is not always good for the gander.

I was going to suggest redwhite, but their prices aren’t what I’d call cheap any more. Great bibs though.
