I was at the bike shop this week talking about brake bedding in and trying to convince them to get a Sinter machine. So I get home and see an MTBR email about brake bedding…in a moment of weakness, curiosity got the better of me. The comments were pretty funny/enlightening, but 2 posts really got me.
I’ll remove the names to protect the innocent, but the first was:
[replying to “My brake bedding is riding the bike.”] → So is mine. Never heard of bedding brakes. I’ve been riding for 30 years. The only thing I ever had to do when I got a new MTB was to clean the rotors with Dawn and water to stop some squeeling.
Wow!
The other, and this is what motivated me to post this…you have got to watch this video, it is hilarious.
I am skeptical when I hear some of the descriptions of what is happening when one beds brakes, a few flags start waving. My own experience is mixed with bedding brakes, so is it real, power of suggestion, or something else or in between? Or, something like the Chrysler Turbo Encabulator (You must watch this videos, closed captioning cannot even keep up with the words)
I think @Dave_Rome should really look into getting a Turbo Encabulator.
