Bike Rental in Montreal

Hi!

I’m a New Yorker who has never spectated a major bike race before. I have found flights and lodging, and am very excited to visit Montreal for the opening weekend of the World Championships. Yay! I registered for the 40km community ride on Saturday assuming I could find a rental bike fairly easily (I’ve spent time in Montreal before, including in Plateau, and love how bike friendly the city can be!) but that is actually proving to be rather difficult. Does anyone have suggestions for shops to try? I don’t want the hassle of flying my own bike just for a weekend, but I also don’t want to sit on a Bixi bike for 25mi. At home I mostly ride a Liv Devote gravel bike, and I also have a much loved older Trek FX urban commuter. Ideally I’d like drop bars and flat pedals. I know the city is going to be crawling with cyclists and I may already be behind the 8ball, but thanks for any recommendations!

Stephanie

I live in Montreal so I never needed to rent here and I can’t say if these places are good or not, but I found a few places that rent road and gravel bikes and not just super upright hybrid tourist bikes or ebikes like most places:

Ma Biciclette may you can get a drop bar gravel bike. It isn’t far from the Lionel Grioulx metro on the Lachine Canal bike path.

Thank you so much! Yes I was mostly coming up with sightseeing tours on ebikes, or reputable repair shops that would much rather sell me something to keep.

Thanks! I’ll def be calling them

Hi Stephanie! You mentioned a Saturday group ride in Montreal…I’m assuming an EC ride? I’m also going but haven’t seen any details yet on what EC is planning. Would you mind sharing where you found that? Thank you!
