Best setup for Classified + Di2? Looking for real-world tips

Hi!

I’ve just bought a new gravel bike: a Rose Backroad FF with GRX Di2 and a Classified drivetrain. Classified has released an update that now allows you to connect Shimano shifters to the system to control the hub.

My question is whether it’s possible to connect the hub (well, technically the rear axle) to both the Shimano shifters and the Classified shift button at the same time?

I’d also love to hear from others with experience using Classified—any tips on the best setup for shifting and the auxiliary buttons would be greatly appreciated.

Right now I’m running:

  • Right outer shifter: shift up

  • Right inner shifter: shift hub up

  • Left side is the reverse

  • Right bonus button: controls my Garmin

  • Left bonus button: shifts down

It would be great if it were possible to configure something like a double-press to shift the Classified up/down.

I have the same bike, and is quite happy with it.

I must admit, I have not tried too many options regarding using the Shimano shifter buttons. I have simply setup up like a regular 2x Shimano setup, and then using the bonus buttons to control my Garmin (screen left and right respectively).

Personally, I did not like the Classified shift button, so I happy just running it Shimano-style. I think if you follow Classifieds instructions you disconnect the shifter button when using the Shimano shifters, but I guess that does not mean you cannot do both… As far as I recall the shifter reacts to the Shimano channels, so if the shifters can send a signal, I think the rear-axle can pick it up. Anyway, if you want a clear answer I would probably recommend to reach out to Classified.
