Pretty much all kit manufacturers are giving discounts for either being a EC member, buying bundles of shorts and jersey and so on. But I’ve yet to find any discounts for Assos. Am I just blind or is this something Assos just doesn’t do?
Hi, try looking in their past seasons styles section. Here’s a link which hopefully works for you. https://www.assos.com/no/man/archive/past-seasons-style.html
There’s no EC discount. They do sell off previous seasons’ styles cheaply, both through the main website or https://www.assosoutlet.com/. Sometimes they do a Strava challenge with a discount code. Or shop around - retailers often have some Assos kit for less than RRP.
Personally, I’m not a fan of brands that massively inflate the RRP then offer huge discounts left, right and centre (Le Col is probably the worst for this, although plenty of others are guilty too).
This is basically what nearly destroyed Rapha. There was absolutely no reason to pay retail for any of it when you could wait a few months and buy everything for 60% off. Everyone caught on and they couldn’t justify their normal non sale prices.
I mean, Rapha could never justify their RRP anyway, it’s just laughable to pay £200 for a jersey. More so when it’s the same tired block colour + one stripe design they’ve sold for a decade already.
They produced so much stock they couldn’t sell that in the UK they were literally giving it away to charity shops in some places…
And then produced so little of the ultra popular EF team kit that you couldn’t buy it at all unless you were both a Rapha club member and got up early to frantically click refresh to try to get in on their ‘limited drop’ BS.
Maybe refusing to sell even 1/100th of the kit that people wanted to buy was a bigger problem.
At least in Canada, buying from the Assos or Assos Outlet sites now incurs both taxes and duties, blunting any discounts
Interesting. It’s obviously a big difference in the UK compared to here in the US. As for justifying their price, they have longer standing competitors who don’t have massive sales that still remain in business. (Assos) So there’s clearly a market at the ultra high end, they just blew it.
Thanks Team! Btw, this is not a Rapha discount topic but a simple question whether there is a way to get Assos kit a bit cheaper. I am not hunting for discounts in general but cycling kit is more expensive than anything I usually buy and starting kit from scratch with a new brand is a costly exercise. And when MAAP and Pedla and Attaquer and others are willing to give a 20% discount for EC members or for buying kit at a certain price points, I think it’s a valid question to ask. Thanks all for the input!
EC is not a way to get Assos kit cheaper.
In Germany Assos used to be the only brand of which there were no discounts in online shops selling their kit. But this has changed in the recent two or three years or so. But they used to have a 30% discount for omnibus orders for clubs.
But for some recent years now you can get their kit, not only from previous seasons, with discounts up to 40%, in German online shops, like bike24, bike-discount, bike-mailorder or biker-boarder. And their stuff is listed on the price comparison site idealo.
But IMO longtime quality sucks big time for their bibs now. And this used the be one of the main buying reasons for them.
I have been buying my Assos stuff from biketiresdirect since they have a pretty good selection and you can use the 20% off EC partner discount
Update, again. Assos have a Strava discount just now, ride 100km in 14 days, pretty easy to achieve for most of us. Get 15% off. assos on season challenge is what to search for.
It’s worth pointing out that the discount code can’t be redeemed against bib shorts, which is a shame because that’s what Assos are best at.
All of their Strava discounts this year have been this way. I think it’s silly. They must want to drive business to their tops, which have never been as great as their bottoms.
