Anyone built a shop inflator for Clik valves?

I’m Clik-curious but thinking things all the way through before jumping into a conversion project. I use an EVT 2-in-1 inflator at home and an old digital gauge from topeak. Has anyone gone about building an inflator setup at home for their Clik valves? What’d you go with? I’m not a huge fan of having to use an adaptor all the time.

The Clik pump head adapter threads straight into the Prestaflator inflator.

Your Park Tool inflator will still inflate Clik, it’s just the gauge won’t be all that useful. Getting yourself a seperate Clik-compatible gauge, instead of the Topeak, is likely all you need.

Alternatively you could get yourself a nice digital inflator (such as from PrestaCycle) and use the threaded Clik adapter.

@Dave_Rome Do you have a recommended shop inflator (with gauge) for use with the screw-in Clik adapter? Unfortunately, I have the EVT Presta-only inflator, which doesn’t work with the screw-in Clik adapter, and the Click slip-fit adapter is absolutely AWFUL. Judging by the look of it, it seems like the PrestaCycle head will work, but wasn’t sure whether that was your top pick (I was also looking at the Park Tool INF-2 or the Arundel Schrader valve shop inflator).

Thanks!
Adam

Hey Adam,

I don’t bother with Clik adapters when using a shop inflator. I just use the EVT Presta and know it’s approximately close on pressure. I don’t need it perfect in this application as all my personal pre-ride pressures are set with either a Fumpa or Silca Digital floor pump.

For your usage, I’d recommend an automotive tyre inflator, or one from PrestaCycle’s range, that you can then thread a regular Clik pump adapter into.

Super Pista Digital for the win! Plus, the pump barrel is aero profiled, so it’s faster.

Thanks, Dave. I appreciate the response!

I would second the Prestacycle inflator with the Clik adapter screwed in…works a treat!

Which one did you use?

Thanks.

The last one is what I had in mind. They do a digital version, too.

Yes, the last one (with the trigger), with the digital gauge. You can screw the Clik adapter right into it and it’s magical! The digital gauge has increments of 0.1 psi, and it has a bleed valve. So I just pop the Clik cap off, push the Clik adapter on, pull the trigger, the bleed it down to the exact pressure I want. It’s the easiest thing in the world! 10/10 would recommend. You don’t need the Pro Presta head, that’s for presta (but it is a nice pump head for presta).

Thanks, guys. I’ll check that one out.

Now, for Clik compatible gauges. We need some more options there.

The Clik pocket digital gauge is good (it’s the same as the Fumpa one), but I found the analog mechanical gauge to be unreliable, so I’d avoid those for now. I wish the digital gauge had a better bleed mechanism, that’s my only complaint about it. The digital gauge on the Prestacycle inflator works very well and has a great bleed mechanism, but obviously that’s only helpful in the garage with a compressor.

So I ordered the Prestacycle Pro inflator… and I also ordered a ViAir TLC inflator with their schrader attachment.

The ViAir arrived first and the Clik Schrader chuck works perfectly with their attachment. I have converted everything to Clik now and I’m done with Presta. The biggest issue I had of late was the threads on TPU valve stems destroying the gasket in my EVT presta inflator. I was a tubular user until six months ago and would go a year or three between gasket replacements, thanks to the smooth valve stems.

With a Clik setup, the chuck requires such a minimal length of contact that any valve stem threads are no issue.

I got the analog Clik gauge from Clik and it matches up pretty well with the gauge on the ViAir TLC inflator. I’ll still get the Clik digital gauge when it’s available but I’m set for now.

Thanks for the helpful advice, folks.

I thought I’d post an update now that I have the Prestaflate Pro inflator.

Well, the Prestaflate is disappointing. It feels cheap. The plunger on the trigger is very sticky and the trigger pull is not at all smooth. And, to top it off, the gauge wasn’t attached to the gun terribly well, since it leaked quite a bit of air when the head was attached to the valve and under pressure. Not at all impressed.

By comparison, the ViAir TLC inflator feels a whole lot better and of much higher quality. It’s the clear winner. Sure, it only has an analog gauge, but I have always used a hand-held gauge to check my tire pressure and will continue to do that with Clik valves. The analog gauge from Clik Valve works really well and there’s very little air loss when disengaging it.

What Schrader chuck are you using with the Viair TLC? I have the same inflator and trying to figure out the best way to convert it.

I’m using Viair’s own Schrader hose, and screwing a Clik head into it. It’s works perfectly.

That’s a real bummer about the Prestaflater, sorry about that. I think they have some quality control issues, but their customer service was great. I had an issue with the first one I got. I reached out to them and they sent a new one right away, and it’s been great ever since. I’d reach out the them.

I’m outside the US and shipping anything back would be a real PITA, what with the normal cost to do that and the added complication with the new tariffs, so I may just write it off. I an going to see if I can salvage the gauge and use that elsewhere.

They can prise my Silca Pista Plus out of my cold dead hands. Until Click valves work with them, I’m sticking to presta, however inconveniently
