Alternatives to Trainer Road

Training Peaks Virtual worth a look if you already subscribe. It’s part of the premium sub

Better than Zwift if it’s just for training lots more metrics covered and all syncs perfectly with the data side and calendar where you either load a training plant or individual workouts

I tried TR for one season but found its “short form” workout to be good for neuromuscular improvement, though not for resistance (long gravel races with high dsl) and recorded data seemed errant, jumped on CoachCat for another season and found its Ai to be a bit of a gimmick (it couldn’t - by the coaches own admission - keep exact track of my training load, injuries, hrv, etc. ) which missed the whole point. I know they’ve upgraded it since, but it is almost double the cost of its competitors. Ended up on Xert last summer and if you learn how to use it and know what you’re doing, it beats the competition, the prediction tool, its everyday analysis and assessment and the “magic buckets” help to keep you on track for your goals. It is ever improving in its features and the tech team listens to subscribers and is quick to improve/ modify features. It also communicates with Zwift and Wahoo for a great workout integration. I’m sticking with it.

As we’re moving to spring here and more of my workouts will be outside I’m thinking of using intervals.icu for calendar and workout creation and pushing to Zwift for doing the indoor ones.

I take the point Zwift is a bit more of a pain to start up (needing a pc etc).

I looked at Trainerday but it doesn’t seem like you can set your plan up in intervals.icu and have that sync to trainerday?

Intervals.icu has the option to read and update your TrainerDay calendar. In Intervals’ Apps section under Settings.
